International Symposium on RNA Viruses~Virus-Host Interactions, 2023
The International Symposium on RNA Viruses
Emerging and reemerging RNA viruses, such as MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV, SARS-CoV-2, avian and newly drifted human influenza viruses, enteroviruses, and Zika virus have severely threatened human health and have a huge socioeconomic, transportation, ecological, and education impact. Mankind must face the resurgence of these viruses and may even face attacks by other novel viruses. Scientists are endeavoring to understand the pathogenicity of these viruses. With the advanced technologies developed in recent two decades, molecular basis of viral pathogenicity has been studied more comprehensively. Since 2010, the Research Center for Emerging Viral Infections at Chang Gung University has organized the International Symposium on RNA Viruses multiple times to create an environment for exchanging information in research of RNA viruses. In 2023, the symposium will highlight the importance of the interaction between RNA viruses and their hosts in viral replication, pathogenicity and antiviral innate immunity during infection. Invited talks as well as poster presentations will be arranged at the symposium. We expect tremendous discussions to inspire novel ideas in scientific research during this meeting.
The organizer: the Research Center for Emerging Viral Infections (RCEVI) at Chang Gung University
Since the RCEVI at Chang Gung University was founded in 2009, it has studied the mutation-prone RNA viruses that cause emerging and reemerging infections. Additionally, training the scientists in the field is a part of the mission at the center, and it contributes greatly in COVID-19 research, including rapid virus identification and isolation, viral gene database construction, molecular virology research, and vaccine and antiviral developments. The aims of the RCEVI are to operate this research center sustainedly, continue training researchers in the field, and establish cross-disciplinary collaboration internationally.
